I have no idea what's wrong at this point. Thus I have wasted time removing the thermostat and what was once a good gasket. It appears to open slightly at 60 degreees and a lot at near boiling water. I tested it in hot water (both boiling and 63 degrees since its a 60 degree thermostat. A local mechanic suggested it might be my thermostat, so I went about locating it and took it out. On the way home I noticed half my power was lost. I shut the motor off for a few minutes, turned it back on, and it didn't do it again. I put a new impeller in, and the motor was peeing like crazy! No problems for the rest of the season.įast forward to this year, after running the boat a few times the red light came on again and the constant buzzing. Right away I found out this was my problem, as the impeller was all warn and broken to ****. I managed to make it home, and took apart the lower unit to get at the impeller.

I noticed that if I was driving at a faster speed the light wouldn't come on, only at lower speeds. I shut off the engine but couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Last season when way out on lake Erie trolling my red warning light came on and there was a constant beep at my throttle box. I am capable of doing minor things and can follow instructions pretty well, but I cant rebuild an engine or anything. I bought a newer model motor (2007 Mercury 25 HP 4 stroke ELPT) as I am not too mechanically inclined.
